Sunday 16th May - walk **** - The Grove Woods – a day of sun shine and rain.

The unsettled weather continues with heavy rain followed by sunshine with winds ranging from 5 to 20 knots with widely varying temperatures too. In the morning with the rain at its worst and light winds I did my exercises while Mag did some gardening in the dry spells! In the afternoon I was briefly tempted to go foiling at Levington but the rain started again with the wind all over the place so decided against it. Then just after tow the sun actually came out so Mag and I decided on a walk, we didn’t want to risk going too far so drove to the Grove car park so we could walk around the beautiful woods:) It was lovely and quiet here but very muddy and you had to be very careful not to slip over. We took some lesser used paths to where Mag had seen a Muntjac deer and she ended up slipping over, getting stung on her bum from nettles, I tried not to laugh too much! We came out by the horse fields where we spotted the Muntjac running across in the open with several foals watching:) Then we got an amazing view of a very noisy Spotted woodpecker and I managed to get some great pics before we continued on our usual route to the bottom of the wood now filled with strong smelling garlic in full bloom along with bluebells, as pretty as a picture. The crows were in full voice too and we saw a pair of jays too along with a few squirrels, and hour or so very well spent:)Then home via the cliff top and seafront to check out the sea, a quick walk to the end of our road to release the snails and slugs Mag collected from her plant before a welcome for cuppa and cake with the rain arriving again. Looks like little wind for a few days but things are looking promising for the end of the week!
